Eventually got round to fitting s/steel brake hoses at the weekend and now the master cylinder has decided to start leaking. Anyone tell me what the part no. is cos Nissan have to email japan to find out ( useless ba***rds).

Antone no if it would be cheaper to buy the whole thing complete, cos someone said it might be.

Paul.

Partnumber for the complete MBC is 46010-30P01.

not completely sure, but I think Courtesy Nissan also sells kits to repair the MBC.

Is it possible that fitting the stainless hoses could cause this?

Me, on this forum, being technical? Absoluuutteeelllyyy! biggrin.gif

Not fitted mine yet...but the reason for fitting them in the first place is because they reduce the give on the walls of the rubber hoses etc. Effectively giving increased braking pressure equating to sharper braking etc. etc. Meaning greater strain on the MBC I'd have thought?

Timmy_Techie wink.gif, I doubt the ss-lines will cause the MBC to start leaking

However.. refilling the system with the incorrect (read: too aggressive) type of brakefluid CAN cause the system to start leaking.

As long as you use the recommended fluid, it should be fine.

CheerZ Eric,

So I should be OK with that lovely Motul High Perf. stuff that I got with my Stillen Brake kit then? Hope so! wink.gif

do the new lines run all the way up to the cylinder ? or are they purely the bit in the wheel arch™

just undoing the old lines from the cylinder, if not done before, might have been enough to disturb it, especially if old...

also remember.. bleed from the boot biggrin.gif

Just my view but buy a new master cylinder.Over the years I have fitted seal kits to various cars and the results are rarely as good as a new part as bore and piston wear will also be part of the problem.

Craig - the SS kits are just the bit between the solid line and the caliper in the wheel arch..

You're right about disturbing stuff.. the old adage of if it aint broke, don't f*ck with it unless you've already got the bits to replace it, works well biggrin.gif

Do u recon dot 5.1 is too aggresive? Should i go for dot 4 instead?

Forgive my lack of knowledge but "aggressive" brake fluid..please explain....

Regardz

I was wondering about 5.1 too... what are you running on Mr Viking?

Also, what have you got in your clutch system, I'm thinking of changing mine to something less or non-hydroscopic.
