I wanted to stay with Fuji as it has never let me down and was wondering if anyone had this one?

mac i know you say you want to stay with fuji

but have you looked at the new sony ones 7.2pix

and alot smaller and compact

happy new year to you

steve

Seriously consider the Olympus C765-UZ, C750-UZ or C770-UZ. Damn good cameras, 4mega pixel and 10x optical zoom PLUS 4 x digital zoom.

Cheers Steve Happy new year to you bud,I will have a look at the Sony.

Andy I will also check out the Olympus.

iv got the Olympus C750 UZ, its an amazing camera. the 10x optical zoom is fantastic.

4m pixels is more than enough for most prints, the quality of the optics is far more important than high pixel no's.

The C765 is about £205 on Amazon at the moment - bargain !

I had a Fuji Finepix 2800 until late summer this year when we were burgled and the weigh-anchors stole it :( :(

I was seriously impressed with picture quality from it, and looking at either S5500 or S7000 as a replacement for it.

Don't think I would swap from Fuji for a while yet.

Have you seen all those telephoto lenses for the finepix series cameras? Anyone know if they are any good at all??

Rob.

And Olympus are renowned for having among the best optics on digital cameras. I still have one of the very old 1.3 mp ones (that cost £700 at the time  ), but it was the first to have proper glass optics, many of the others are plastic.

i think the C765 is slightly lower spec, 3m pixels & slightly lower zoom. may be wrong tho

nope, C765 has same zoom & pixels, twas the C760 that is lower.

with the C765 you loose the hot shoe flash adapter

Are greddy making Cameras these days :D

No idea let me know if you find one

OK guys, I've just used the link to 7dayshop.com above, and orded myself a new 128Mb XD picture card for only £17.99 (damm good price) and a card reader for only £4.49!!!!

Now comes the problem..... The card reader works on USB 1.1..... Will this still work on my USB 2.0 slot?

I'm assuming that old will work on new, but new wont work on old (ie; 1.1 works with 2.0, but not the other way round).

Yep, USB 2.0 should be backwards compatible with USB 1.0. just works a bit slower.
