I've got a tapping noise coming from the engine. Sounds like it's coming from the head. The thing is, it goes if I rev the engine for a short while but then it comes back!! Any ideas anyone?

sounds like noisy tappets (i think)

not to bad a problem so long as it is not so loud it sounds like something is broken, but if it goes away it because the oil is circulating around the engine.

our cars have hydraulic tappets on them asfar as i know which rely on oil being in the tappets for them to open the valves correctly. if one or a few tappets have weak seals in them they loose the oil they are holding. have you noticed if this is worse when you leave the car for a long period or over night?

as 300z says nothing to worry about. just service it regularly and make sure the correct grade of oil is in it. fully synthetic i think usually 10/40 but check that first. whats the oil pressure reading at? if it is low when was the lastg service and haved you taken in to consideration that the oil pressure sender might be clogged or faulty?
