hi people---after changing sides on my front tires (even the wear out) ive just noticed my front are a 45 section and the rear are a 40 section,being--rear 255-40-17 front 235-45-17,is this right or what????

ps--the make of tire is matching set

yup, sounds about right. you need a lower profile to maintain the same radius with a wider tyre.

ok I will try to explain, if the tyre is 255mm wide and you took 40% of that it equals 102, then take the 235 wide tyre, if you used the same profile its 94 so the radius changes, now change the profile to 45 you get 105, give or take 3mm it keeps the radius the same, hope I didnt mess that up but I got confused somewhere in the middle as well, or just take our word for it, its right.

oh i get it now, just to check ive looked at the uk spec and its-----225/50/16front 245/45/16rear,yep the sections are not the same thanks alot to the guys who replied
