Ok, as some of you know I'm rebuilding my engine again with new injectors, turbos etc.

Right question

1. i'm going to be removeing the ERG etc, whats the best way to block off the vac hoses?

2. I'm going to replace all the vac hoses with silicone. how much will i need and what sizes?

3. and last but not least, what can i do to improve the air flow through the intercoolers? I see that the screen wash and rad water tanks block the back of them, would removeing them and changeing them for smaller ones have much effect? also if so what can i use to replace them with?

Cheers Guys.

I made up a smaller tank to replace mine, and junked the carbon cannister:

Thats exactly the pic i remember that gave me the idea of removeing the tanks, did it make much difference?

Not too sure, as I put the greddy coolers on at the same time.

Got to be worth it though.

What bottle is that you used there? and how do you refill it? Sorry for all the questions.

Mathew

It's a sample bottle from work, then I just bonded a 1/4" outlet onto it and drilled the cap as a vent.

To fill it, you have to remove the cradle, but it's never needed done (it's just expansion room).

If you can't get a bottle that fits, drop me a line and I'll try to get you one like that.

Hello mate,

Well Mark's answered no.2 and does this help for no.3 - http://www.300degree.com/hard_parts/egrkit/ I'm sure people have just used a coin glued on instead of the plates.

Cheers mate, i see the kit but was going to make my own kit up, the only problem i can see is how do i block off the hoses, most people just have a screw or something wedged in the hose, i'd rather find a neater way then that.

whar size are the hoses? maybe some sort of plumbers fitting?

I think they are 6mm, could be wrong though, its the ones that run to the valves by the fuse links.

Take them all back to the hardpipe and throttle bodies where they're fed from. Lets you remove several small vacuum galleries then too. I just resorted to bits of 3mm silicone hose with a bolt in the end sealed with hermetite blue.

Thats exactly what i was planning on doing, but wondered if there was a better way to blank them off then the bolt in the end of a pipe idea.

Have a look on some peugeots in scrappies, they used to have small rubber blanks on a few hoses. Got some 6mm ones on my car but I think there were some 3mm.

Failing that, try deemon tweeks or think automotive, sure someone must make blanks.
