Hi does anyone know where I can pick up [from the ECU] a signal that identifies which gear the autobox is currently in?

I am expecting something like this for a four wire system ...

Park Rev. Ntrl. O.D. Drive 2nd 1st

Signal A GND GND Open Open GND GND Open

Signal B Open GND GND GND GND Open Open

Signal C Open Open Open GND GND GND GND

Signal D GND Open GND Open GND Open GND

I basically want to add a digital display of the current gear and/or a digital readout of the stick position!

Any help appreciated.

I looked into this briefly as I think it would be ace to have a rally style gear indicator on the dash.

The only lead I found was the Shift At Will system that a guy in Scandinavia used to make. A gear indicator was incorporated into it, but couldn't easily be separated. I had a few emails fromthe guy who does them, I forget his name but a search on "gear indicator", "SAW", "Shift at Will" etc should help.

Thats if someone here doesn't know how to read off the ECU more simply :)

Good luck

Thanks Pete - I have been trying to get a SAW system out of that guy for two years - he emailed me about 5 months ago and said he was going to beack in production 2005 - In the meantime I was hoping to pick some brains/share my experience on the gear indicator side of things...

Cheers.

Have a look on my website I do the Datatool gear indicators for the bikes. It is a nice small compact unit, I will be fitting one of these to my auto in the new year (if I have time)

Look in the bike section.

Hi Andy,

You may want to pm/e-mail Eric (Lymon) - he will probably know the answer as he's the one who developed the ConZult software which does what you want.
