Ive got a beemer im trying to get rid off so its sitting out the back of my house behind closed doors effectively, it was sorn declared when i changed over to the 300zx but now it needs redeclaring and they wont without a valid insurance cert...anyone know to deal with thiswihtout paying for 2 cars car insurance?

why do you need to unsorn it?

It automatically gets unsorned when you tax it, hence you need insuance.

Is that right? Why would they want you to insure a car you are not going to use??

You have to RE declare the SORN even if you have already declared it off road, i got the forms through saying you need to do it again! but now they wont do it unless i produce an insurance cert....

I have just had my tax reminder, and that will be SORN'd too, but I didnt notice anything about insurance...

 

Surely the fact that it is OFF ROAD, negates the need for insurance...

SORTED...last time i go to the Post office for that ..just phoned the DVLA and they said theyre idiots too..sorry chaps you DONT need insurance for a motor being sorn declared!

No, but unfort' Labour have plans to charge us for declaring SORN, but not 'till after the election ofcourse..
