positive its the ring gear as i stuck it i 1st rolled the car a couple of inches to turn over motor and it was fine i had a senaky feeling it had a few teeth missing as the starters engaged with a crunch on more than a few times

I had this problem when I got my z three years ago it got worse and worse, when the engine was changed, it confirmed it was the teeth on the ring gear, I got a flywheel and ring gear from a breaker cause it was urgent and nissan couldn't get me one for two weeks, I'm sure one of the traders will have one for you.
