Just had a calll from a company caiming to be O2, my phone people.

 

They were calling from a mobile phone so knew is was not O2.

 

They asked

 

We understand your account is up for renewal december/january is that correct?

 

To which I answered I have no idea, then they asked

 

we understand you have a Direct Debit is this correct?

 

I do but answered no.

 

then they asked

 

can you confirm which bank you use?

 

At which point I hung up. they called from this number

If you get a call from this number dont answer it!!!!!

I called O2 and they just said we cant do anything but give the number to our fraud department, but there has been no crime so nothing can be done and the police will say the same.

not true my man, im old bill i should know. telecommunictions act, handy. go to your local station and let them know. give the number and they will be able to trace it. this happens all the time, and lots of people arent as switched on as you. but something would be done

good warning takemetothepub, BUT nothing in the above leans towards any offence committed,

1-they said it was o2, no offence committed, as it's only an offence to misrepresent yourself to be someone else, intending to defraud someone

(and as he hung up who knows what was coming, it's obvious to us all, but cps don't deal in might do's)

 

2-even if the number is registered to someone what evidence is there??

 

i THINK Telecommunications Act covers companies/providers

 

same as if receiving offensive/threatening phone calls, you would certainly need more than one call and then evidence
