Help - Intermittent Gearbox Fault

Hi,

I need a little help please. Has anybody come across a problem with their gear changing in a non turbo automatic where sometimes it behaves perfectly and sometimes it just loses itself and either changes gear very high in the revs or not at all? I have, and although it has been to a auto specialist, the only thing he could find on my car was a reported faulty TPS which was changed but did not cure the problem. He thinks it may be an electrical fault. Any ideas anybody ??

Cheers.

My first thought would be the TPS , any idea what voltage it has been set too , I presume the connectors on it are in good condition and clean as this could possibly cause an intermitent fault

Thanks for your suggestion, I do not know what voltage it has been set to, all I know is that it was done by an autobox specialist so I can only hope he knew what he was doing. I was wondering if there may be sprained or broken wire in the circuit somewhere which occassionally breaks contact through vibration or bumps but I am not knowledgable enough to test this out. Do you think a wrong voltage setting would make an intermittent problem?
