Box connected to my ECU

I have a box connected to my ECU in the passenger footwell.

When I took it to a guy who used to work for turbo technics he said it was to do with a super chip

The box had 4 switches on the side with 0, 1 and 2 modes for each switch.

I decided to check it was not just the immobiliser and when I pressed the central locking on my keyfob it clicked as though it had a relay or something inside. I reckon the guy just didnt know what it was and just wanted to look good.

Does anyone have any ideas

Also do I need to remove the ECU cover to find out what "chip" I have in?

Will the chip have the name/company printed on it

Any advice would be good.

Will do thanks.

When I had a rev limiter adjustment fitted to my Honda, this is exactly what I got 4 tiny switches that increased (or decreased) the rev limiter by a percentage based on the configuration of the switches. However the unit I had was a Dastek (Unichip) unit and was fitted inside the ECU box.

I really miss the sound of that engine singing its heart out at 8000rpm....onto bigger and better things....

It could be that the alarm installer fitted this to pulse the cental locking to open/close the doors !!

Thanks for that guys. I reckon it could have summit to do with the rev limiter.

Im gonna mess around with it this weekend! Hope it doesn't go bang

If it is a rev limiter adjustment device then unless you have a induction (non standard intake) kit and an exhaust then there is no additional power available at higher revs (and from the few dyno graphs I have seen there isn't much to be had by ringing this engine above 6500RPM).

One danger comes from valve springs (your gonna have real problems if you buggger these) not being able to take the pounding of higher revs.

I only killed three honda engines OK!
