Help i'm confused.

I was doing an oil a filter on my car yesterday, and i checked the gearbox oil level, and to my horror that i was hardly any oil on the dipstick never mind in the box. :(

What oil do you use and how do you top this up, do you need to drain the old first etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. :)

Yeah it was at normal operataing temp, and the car was running becuase i had just put the new oil in the engine, and it had been running for about 20 mins before i checked it becuase i was trying to do the self diagnostic thing on the air con :)

right if you checked it while the engine was running in N and it was up to operating temp and it was reading low you are going to need some more oil , Dexron 3-4 should do the job

Have another banana

Shouldn't that be my line

I would do a total flush tbh. I mean, its prob the original stuff in there after all these years.. And the best way to do this imo is under line prssure - to make sure you get the old stuff out from the torque converter. The going rate is £100 from an auto specialist. Another thing to defo get done if you haven't already is a seperate autobox cooler.

Ah, no, UK is cool. I was thinking you had a Jap.

No worries m8, thanks for the info. I have just looked in the Service Manual and i don't fancy doing the work myself i find an oil change a mission. :)
