There's an interesting approach used in Australia (or there was when I went there a few years ago...)- many pubs have wall-mounted breathalizers. You pay a token amount (AU$1?) and blow into it, and it tells you how much alcohol is on your breath, and how much is legal.

Now there are two *slightly* minus points-

1) People end up having a how-actually-drunk-can-you-get competition (ahem!)

2) The REAL worry is that people drink until they're safe according to the machine. As has been mentioned, actual numbers don't *necessarily* relate to how drunk a person is, and some people reckon it would lead to more drink-related accidents rather than less.

Personally, I don't think the 2nd point would actually happen. Also, I wouldn't be against a similar thing being introduced here as if there is an actual legal level then what's the problem with people seeing if they're over it?

I voted for ban. I dont need a drink to make me feel good. If I go to the pub, i am happy to drink coke. If i do feel like a pint, then Wendy drives us home. Simple innint.

Pubs make more on soft drinks than alcohol btw ;).

If some drunk driver run my mrs or kids down there would be hell to pay.

Alcohol impairs judgement. FACT. No getting away from it.

I have not been in the unfortunate position to have lost a family member through DD, so I feel sorry for you and family clarkey :( :(
