Guys,

I ordered some car stuff (from a domestic company, not foreign) which was going to be delivered by City Link on the 1st December but I have received nothing to date.

I contacted the company (I'd ordered from) and they said that i have been delivered the parcel and some body has signed for it (but the signatory's name is different to anybody's name at my house). They provided me with City Link's phone number to contact them regarding my parcel.

I have also checked with my neighbours and they haven't received anything for me either.

I have been foning city link since yesterday but they couldn't get in touch with the driver and when i foned them today, they say that the driver has been back to my address and he says it was the same Brown door with the Red Sports Car (ZX) in the drive !!!

He says " The guy confirmed his name as Ammar but signed with a different name when I delivered the parcel".....

The goods were worth £1500 and I paid using my Credit Card.

I was there the whole day but no one had turned up but according to them the matter is closed :(

What can i do now?

Am I protected in anyway with my credit card company?

Shall I go to the police?

Any advice will be highly appreciated

tell your credit card lender re the theft of your goods....then ask the carriers for a complaints form and or copies of all the paperwork

ffs, some people.

Under the Credit Consumer Act, notify the company that unless they replace the goods or refund the money to your credit card, that you will be instructing your credit card company to recover the full anount of money.

The Credit Card company will need a Crime Ref so you had better report it, and ask City Link to send you a copy of the signed reciept.

At the end of the day, thays why you have a credit card, let them do all the work. :)

oh you can always phone your local trading standards...should fill you in fully on your consumer rights with regards to deliveries paying by card getting your money back etc etc

the CC companies are normally very hot on this and it will not take long to get your dough back. Im pretty certain that as far as the card company will be concerned the merchant will be at fault and refund you pretty much immediatly and then charge the merchant.

If you are unlucky you may have to go through an insurance claim for it takes a bit longer but you will still get refunded.

Dunno what card you used but Barclaycard were shit hot in both of these situations for me, was very impressed with the speed things were processed.

I had a similar, but less serious, problem with City Link a few weeks ago - I was in all day waiting for something to be delivered (that was due the previous day, but they "ran out of time").

At around 4:30, I rang them and asked whether I was going to get the parcel that day. They checked with the driver who claimed to have already been to my house but there was no-one in. He hadn't left a card as he'd apparently 'run out'.

When he came back about 20 minutes after my call, presumably after a chat with the manager I'd complained to, he insisted that he had been to the house and that no-one was in (despite 3 cars in the driveway) and he could prove it by the fact that he'd written 'white', i.e. the colour of my front door, on his delivery sheet. I suspect the ink was still wet...

I'm always a bit nervous when I hear that a company is going to use City Link to send me stuff.

My point is that the delivery driver is bound to say that he delivered it to the right house, but it's a bit difficult to prove he didn't. Hopefully the CC company will refund you the money. Good luck!

Ammar, I'm sorry to hear of your problems, and agree with everyone else regarding contacting the CC company, and the police.

As far as City Link, I've never had any problems with these people here in Grantham, as their office is not too far from my door, I have no problems picking anything up. But at the end of the day you are in the hands of the delivery driver.

ffs... i hate it when ppl get ripped off. I really feel for you ammar

I ordered a clutch from the usa last year, asked to be delivered to my works address (unit 3).

The stupid courier company tried to deliver it to HOUSE number 3 on two mornings, and said they were out. I phoned them and asked where it was, told it was attempted to be delivered, had a worring few days where they couldnt find it on their system ffs, and i finally went to their depot to collect it just to make sure.

I have little faith in couriers or postal service these days ffs.

I would like to thank you all for such useful help.

I used Morgan Stanley to pay for the goods. I will contact them now and police tomorrow.

davido140- you mentioned the insurance claim if I don't get any luck soon....how does that work?

Thanks once again guys for the advice

I have just spoken to Morgan Stanley and they say that they cannot do anything about it as they do not offer "purchase protection insurance" (Barclaycard apparently does).

The guy in their customer services said that merchant is at fault and I need to send them a formal complaint letter and seek advice from trading standards.

Any thoughts
