Hi buddy, if you do a search there is some stuff (not much) about the Dastek Unichip.

If all goes to plan, i'll be getting this done next summer.

As for where to get it done, there is a Dastek not far from me (Dalgety Bay), dont know whereabouts down South though.

HTH

What are these like then?

I wan't to try a mines in mine. Are they aggressive?

Im tryin to arrange a Rolling Road day at Dastek for some time next year. Would be an excellent opportunity to find out more about the unichip. Could even haggle a group buy price out o them. :D

Ive posted this up in the Scottish members section but there isnt enough interest as yet to justify booking it. If you guys fancy the trip up, it could be well worth it. ;)

hmmmmm... maybe not. You guys are far far away!!

Bit of a way for me bud .. I live in East Sussex .. but would be interested in the results from the RR

I was thinking about THOR or JD and Ryan.

hmmm its a piggy back chip innit ??? not as good as a properly written/mapped chip as far as i know its how can i put i suppose its like clocking a pc not as safe as buying a proper faster chip is it ??!

if im right it intercepts the ecu signals eg timing/injector pulse lenght etc and sticks in its own set and bumps that out to the motor dont sound clever ive always been brought up on proper mapping.

if i can afford it im eventually gonna go alpha gold on mine its expensive but it can do everthing but wipe your arse includes fully sequential injection lamda control etc etc and i think it can do antilag and launch control aswell

ive seen a 600hp+ v12 jag motor running it admittedly its an N/A engine but the sight of 6 Pairs of 38mm throttle bodies and twin ecus is quite impressive

Piggy back's don't offer any advantage over a properly mapped chip. They are a bit easier to adjust.

I've been looking into ECU's recently because of putting the V8 in mine. DTA or Emerald are a good bet. The DTA particularly has loads of features for the cash. You're looking at well over £1k though.

emerald is good dave walker and co know where there at done some mapping where i last worked with him. the owner of the motor insisted he came and had a play

The only thing I was thinking is if I wanted to upgrade parts on my engine this would require a remap, which may require a complete new chip or are the chips mappable?

with this uni chip could you do away with the afm? and other bits

These chips are remappable. IIRC, it cost about £60 for a remap.

With unichip, you can't do away with the AFM as it just piggybacks the stock ECU which still needs the AFM for load calculations. You should be able to re-map it easily though.

Thanks for your help Im still a bit undecided on what the best move would be, to buy this uni chip or have a custom chip made for the car!

JD coulp you map this uni chip ecu? or would it need to be performed on a rolling road to get best results

Could map the fuelling no problem, but could do it by remapping the ECU too.

To get the timing spot on you do need to use an RR, but can still get it close on the road.

My mate has a UniChip attached to his car (not a Z) - he gets it remapped every time something is changed (ok it's expensive @£100), the chip is very flexible.

I have just put my Z in to the garage that does the mapping (it's in for repairs to the clutch hydraulics) and I have asked him to put it on the rolling road and to look into what can be done with the UniChip for the Z. Will let you know what he comes back with.
