Hi All,

I am having a rpblem with the hicas, i lose power steering on and off for no reason, the fliuids are fine, and there are no apparent leaks. no dodgy noises from the rack etc.

But the strange thing is, if i lose steering and stop the car turn it off and then turn it back on again, it is fine

Any ideas.

It could be a dodgy speed sensor. I believe this can effect the hicas. It could also be that the steering wheel isn't centred correctly, this may cause the hicas to throw a wobbly as well.

You could try doing the hicas test, start car turn steering wheel from left to right five time and then hit the brake five time within 10 sec's, the open your door and look at the rear wheels they should move from left to right as you turn the wheel past the center point.
