Seems to be related to the recirc valves and generally louder when you've got an aftermarket induction kit installed.

Nothing to worry about though.

you have already reconised you have the goose honk by knowing the term of it

to remove this annoying noise replace your standard recirc valves and fit some dump valves/blow off valves

as marcus says this is more common when an aftermarker filter is fitted

HTH

I think im gonna get some dump valves next as the goose honk is more annoying than anything.

its a completely standard car. Its just embarrasing!!! driving down through town, people stop and stare...and then old goosey gives off a honk!would like to fit a dump valve kit!!

Another question...if you fit an aftermarket air filter....do you notice a diff in noise?especially in an auto?

in my auto i only ever used to get a honking a noise when i drove on the motorway

no constant obviously, only at certain engine speeds/loads/boost pressure

Thats cus people were telling you that you drive like a grandma and beeping at you

mine is an auto and the honk is appalling, just in the process of buying a pair of HKS BOVs to solve the problem, pretty much every time I come off the gas and the boost pressure reaches 0 the recircs make an almighty honk, nearly as loud as the bloody horn!!!!!!! very embarassing!!

I must admit to being lucky for once I am Honk free!

However I have just corrected my screech on start-up as my ring gear had loads of knackered teeth and sometimes took several loud screeches to start, by that time everyone around was grinning at the car, so I know what its like.

As a question is a dump valve actually going to be of benefit? I have heard arguments for and against dump valves (unless they are recirculating) and you already have these fitted, are you just doing this as cheap alternative to replace the dump valve because of the honk??

I reckon Goose Honk is cool it always brings a smile to my face every time it happens.. :D :D :D

Mine louder the my stereo LOL. Think i should have bought dump valves and not the wings west bumper...

my noise is more between 3-4k rpm if i take my foot off the gas it goes!

its not loud just annoying and sound like more to the back of the car

I thought that this only happens if your recircs are on the way out, tho I'll happily be proved wrong :D

If this is the case, then I presume a new pair of recircs will also cure it.

I think it depends on how much you have upped the boost. Not sure what the standard ricircs are good for, can't be much more than 10 psi. Up the boost to 1 bar and I am fairly sure they won't be able to take it.

I have goosehonk as well, and as soon as I can afford it Apexi's will take their place ;-)

It's a common symptom when an induction kit is fitted. Mine does it when coming off the gas after moderate accelleration.

The easiest cure is turning the stereo up - I find Axl Rose can dampen such noises :D

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
