I'm looking at getting a 300 but have never owned one, but I have a friend who's got a Skyline GTS to sell for his mate. It's a 93 GTS but GTR spec only single turbo. He's looking for £5500, it just had new turbo, its got dump valve, boost controller and huge intercooler. I'm now in a quandry as to what to go for. As 300 drivers what would people reccomend as the best car to go for. I've had insurance quotes and they're both pretty much the same.

Any advice will be much appreciated

I only tried the standard before I bought but have since driven a V-Spec and to be honest I never felt much difference at all. The day I got was a bone dry one and because the main differences between standard and V is suspension and LSD/torque split, they never came into question. The question by the way is probably way beyond dry road conditions.

I am reliably informed that you would need to really put them through their paces on a circuit before the true difference was ever felt.

Other than that, they are fairly similarly priced (within a couple of grand) and will probably remain that way for a good few years yet. I prefer the lower look of the V Spec but then I could achieve that with a suspension set up as opposed to the couple of grand difference in the car.

Midnight Purple is a brilliant option and biased as I am, my favourite throughout all the colours available. I just got lucky as I was desperately trying to find a standard model and it just so happened that the first one that got sourced was MP.

Have you had a test drive of one yet? WHat an amazing difference to the Zed, totally different power delivery and the road holding is unbelievable. My uncle drove a Ferrari 355 and reckons the standard GTR handles far better.

Good enough for me............and the kids, and the wife, and the pram and the golf clubs!

haha...next you'll be telling us you still wear them....that is to say the rubber ones from your zed days

Aye, rubber pants and my eagle eyes attachment at the back of the my head..............

Cheers for that Gordon, you aren't interested in seling up are you ???

Not a chance big man, but I'll let you know if the day ever comes.

I got mine through Mackay Trading in Edinubrgh and I thoroughly recommend them although the GTR and Skyline forums have a lot of traders on there for advice.

IMO the Skyline GTR is one hell of a car - brilliant in all respects......except maybe looks.

But the GTS is simply the poor wannabe relation. Given a choice between a GTS and a ZX it would have to be the ZX hands down. I would even chose the 3000GT above the GTS :x:

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Always worth a go eh....

 Do you need an answer on a zed page ?? Get the Zed don't f about

:duffer: think we should all let him get the S*** l*** :duffer:
