Noticed the orange HiCas dash light was on - never been on before while driving that I can recall.

Also the red light with the litle exclamation mark and circle (!) was on too.

I wonder if that red light comes on whenever there is a non-engine type of fault - such as a HiCas error. If anyone has an owners manual I would be grateful if they could tell me exactly what the red circle with exclamation mark means. There in no mention of it in the Service/Repair Manuals.

Of course I checked the Hicas fluid level (mine has the hydraulic version of HiCas) and that seemed fine. Only thing I can think of is maybe the little float for the level in the HiCas reservoir got stuck.

Drove the car later and both lights remained off.

Cheers

According to the (UK) Owners manual, the brake warning light is an exclamation mark within in a circle within a couple of brackets; it means low fluid level or handbrake on.

I agree,

The (!) icon is the handbrake light, but usually lights up when you are driving when the brake fluid is low.

The hicas light wil come on if your power steering fluid is low, try topping both up. Also check for leaks
