Why is it when I try and fix a problem I end up with another!

In need of some more help guys:(

I have just spent all morning doing this -

http://www.angelfire.com/geek/vg30dett/Cluster/Fix_Cluster.htm

to fix my dodgy intermittent odometer.

All went well and to plan as far as I noticed but though I better take it out on a test drive to make sure.

Guess what?!!!

My odometer now does not work atall and to add insult to injury nor does my speedo now

Can anyone please try and shed some light on what I might have done wrong.

I do have a little black box to convert the odometer to miles etc. Would it be anything to do with me forgetting to connect it up or anything? (although I am 100% sure I did).

Cheers guys,

Justin

Right, to add to my growing list of problems, after a trip to the local boozer I have now noticed the steering to be a little heavier than usual and the Hicas warning light flashes on after about 2 mins of driving.

Oh yeah and the cherry on top, I just lost 7-1 to my mate at pool!:(

Please help!!!!

The power steering is speed sensitive, so if you've bust something in there then that would be a typical symptom. Soooooooo, what you need to do is take it apart again and make sure you connected everything correctly - especially the input from the speed sensor.

LOL, looks like another long day dismantleing stuff again tomorrow then.

From doing a search it looks like it could be either the speed sensor of the converter box. Would this seem about right?

matey, my steering went heavy and speedo went and was the speed sensor on the gearbox!

I am starting to think it all points towards the speed sensor but how could I have damaged something on the gearbox by removing the cluster on the dash?

Justin

As Andy said, does your steering go heavy too? in not then it's more likely to be the converter behin the dash

Yeah, my steering goes heavy after about 2 mins. Does anyone know if its possible to plug the wires in the wrong sockets or would they not fit? Maybe I have done this.

I have ripped it all out again, can someone point me in the direction to where the input to the speed sensor is?
