i know lots of people ask this question but my one is slightly different.

 

i have had a import about three years (i am 27)and have 4 years NCB and 3 points on my licence. The only mods i have declared are:

CHIP - BHP

stainless steel piping

bodykit

alloys.

cat 1+tracker

 

my renewal quote was £1345 and i thought i`d phone up and ask for discount at which point they told me the computer had made a mistake about the mods and my renewal would be £2000+. The problem is that i have phoned most of the companies recommended but all are quoting over £2000+. what can i do? i changed my zed for a more modified one this year and my premium wasnt affected that much!!! What should or shouldn`t i be declaring.

 

Does anybody have similar mods and what are they paying. i dont really want to insure 3rd party fire and theft!

 

please help insurance about to run out.

Well I can't help out with any insurance companies as I am already with Houghtons, however you really should declare all your mods (everything) as the last thing you need is invalid insurance.

 

Is yours an import? You could try elephant over the net but I think you have to call them and explain your mods :rolleyes:

They use to charge me £770 fully comp on my impreza turbo and when i asked about the z32 they gave me a rebate of £130 !! so i now pay £640 fully comp for my baby. I checked policy when it came through and yep all details are correct !! what a bargain !!!

I paid £2,200, second car, good p/c, tracker etc, this year for insurance :mad: but it worth it.

i got cover on a jap import with Club Norwich Union not the main quote me happy direct dept bods....i think its only avaliable through brokers though

funny everyone seems to be quoted a shed load of money.

i suggest move to cornwall mine cost me £350 f/comp and i had it totalled last xmas for full claim

ravi give houghtons a call again and say you are asking for a quote especially linked to the 300zx website and you are entitled to get a discount, they then put you through to a guy who sorts you out, as im only 27 3yrs no claims and got insured for 900ish fully comp all declared.

looks like mines the cheapest £287 full comp houghtons full modified jap import based on 5k miles a year and iam 32 no points but live near a bad crime area

i got mine from e-bay but if you go to the traders section theres a trader on there that sells them

I don't know about everyone else but I am getting a wee bit worried that alot of these insurance schemes are either being stopped altogether or having big restrictions slapped on them compared to say just 6 months ago.

As has been said before, you will need to be a Subscribed (read: paying) member to be able to take up the discount they offer, otherwise your insurance will be legally invalid.

I've only just insured my ZX with Carole Nash (13/11/04) on a classic policy for under £300. No problems or hidden nasties - they just had to check with the insurer about the induction kit and non-standard alloys.
