Normally dont have any problems geting onto the site when logged on at work, despite the gestapo IT police we have. However, last 2 days when I flick the club up outta my favourites it just says:-

database repairing

WTF this all about then? Cleared out all the crap and cookies and stuff, no change. Typed it in manually, no change. Ask someone else to type it in, they access it straight away.

Whats going on? Any ideas?

It was off-line earlier this morning, when I was trying to get on, so came back to it about five mins later and it worked fine.

So basically, I've no idea :D

yes, I reckon your IT eggheads are messing with your mind- they know you have a zed and are green with envy so they make your life hell.

If I were you, I'd back anything up you need then delete a few system files off your hard disk, then IT will have to re-build it.

As I am an IT support grunt, we like that kind of thing- it keeps us in a job... usually.

Oh no no no no no. CSC service all the machines on site at work. Sneeze and my computer gives me the blue screen of death. Takes 3 days to get em out, to which they usually say

"Were gonna have to take that one away and rebuild it mate!"

No shit sherlock, even I can tell its chuffed!

"Looks like it needs a new hard drive".

"That'll be my fifth this year then!!!!"

"You reported that sir???"

"No, I try and hide it in the bottom drawer of my desk along with the collection of mouldy tea mats, OF COURSE IVE REPORTED IT YOU MORONS, why else would you be here!!!"

Takes em a day or 2 to rebuild it then it comes back and you have to wait a week for all the software such as Outlook 2000 and Microsoft Project to be put back on.

"Cant you just load the software when you rebuild it guys?"

"Cant do that mate, we can only load Outlook 98, standard software package build. They'll do MSP remotely."

I'll give em something remote to do and it involves shoving it up their ****!!!

See you got me started. Anyway, rant over. Some of the sites are access restricted, (even the one that Mac linked to to show his spiders the other day FFS!) but this doesnt come up as restricted, just get the funny repairing message. Most peculiar!!

Friday you would have got the repairing database error, it meant simply

the databases were repairing ;)

Was offline for about 10 minutes this morning whilst I did upgrades to the server.

at work open the site in your browser and press

ctrl - F5

this will bypass any cache and reload the site direct from the server.
