How long do you allow for a TT to warm up? My Jap import 90 TT feels rough and vibratory for about 5-10 mins.It really lets you know it doesn't want to be pushed.After this its smooth and powerful.This is in an ambient temperature overnight of 24 deg C!

Even though this Z is low mileage (73000 klms) I still had to fix all the usual problems of corroded engine electrical connections and dirty throttle bodies (Sussed by reading this forum) as it ran very rough when I bought it 2 months ago.

Do you Z guys in the UK have to pussyfoot your cars until they are warmed up?

Personally, I always treat it gently for at least 5 minutes if not longer until everything is well warmed up. And yes, it takes longer when the weather's colder. And the reverse when stopping (i.e. stop hooning at least 5 minutes before you're going to turn the engine off). But for better advice on local conditions try http://www.aus300zx.com

should be about 5 mins - basically i take it steady until the temp gauge is right in the centre, then... off i go!

it seems normal for these cars to feel tight and lazy when cold or at least for about 5 miles,allso my drive train feels like ime running with mud tires untill the magic 4-5 miles then it all smooths out and away we go,this is my third z and including my cuurent 93tt they all done the same. anyway i allways give it about 5 miles untill i start spooling the tubs up anyway so it dont bother me much

Thanks guys.I feel better knowing the roughness when cold is a common Z thing.

it will feel slow and lazy because i think the ecu retards the timing settings when cold not sure but it might even cut the boost as well . Somone more knowledgable than me will probably know. Its best to wait for the oil temp to come up anyway.

Yeah it stays in safety boost until up to normal operating temperature ;) Poor cold running could be a bad connection to the air regulator - next in line after the idle valve on the back left side of the plenum :)

Oh and check the temperature sender connector on the front upper metal coolant pipe coming from the engine (Left hand one, yellow connector) for corrosion/breakages in the wire...

I always let mine idle for about ten minutes before driving, even then

it still feels sluggish for a few miles. Always wait for the water temp/oil

pressure to get to the correct levels before any sort of 'boost'.
