Im with Liverpool Victoria at moment for my zed. Thinking of getting a Hilux Surf as a winter car. However LV will not insure 2 cars under one policy - I would have to insure the SURF with no "No claims bonus" as this is used on my zed. They want another £650 for the surf!!!

Im sure someone on here must have 2 cars and possibly have put the zed on a classic policy. I owuld like to be able to drive the zed when the sun shines, and the SURF when weathers crappy.

Who do you use?

I was gonna try Firebond but when I last spoke to them they said the ZED is NOT a classic!.

Put the Hilux as main car, with your NCB on it, then the Zed as 2nd car on Classic policy with limited mileage.

Yeah, whack the Z on a classic policy (fully comp on a limited mileage probably less than u think) and get the other 1 on with the no claims..

Or get yerself a traders policy (trade values on claims though) for about 1K

Bell Direct will give you a second policy with the same no claims if you bring both cars to them - they've done mine for 4 years now. Business use both cars and insured ncb both cars.

carole nash did my zed on a classic car policy £291 cant go wrong there bud

Carole Nash do my Z as well on a classic policy for the 300 quid mark, 4000 miles and breakdown cover too.

Reminds me, must start saving as that'll be due soon!!!

I asked direct line to put the mr's clio on my policy and they said id have to have another policy costing over £400 takes the p1ss how many cars do they think you can drive at once???

Did anyone state any mods. . . . . . . :)

I don't think there are any UK insurers that offer true 'two car' policies - that's just not the way our system works.. The best you can find is a company willing to 'copy' your existing NCB over to a second policy as a good-will jesture (as legally you can't use your NCB on more than one policy - mad huh?)

They have the right idea in the US - you can have any number of cars & bikes on one policy AFAIK, and effectively you're only insuring one of them for loss while driving, any one you're not driving is being covered for theft, IYSWIM, which makes it much cheaper (as someone said, you can't really drive more than one at once, can you!)

The Bell Direct idea was you could get your full ncb on the second car. I declared mods as well for both cars with charges for them. To chip the z was for me not worth the extra £350 or so that they wanted. I have got insured ncb on both cars and 4 years of this now on the z.

Houghtons have put both of my Z's on 1 policy for me and it is wicked...

Ditto, with 6000 miles p/a and I'm allowed to drive it to work if I want to :hyper: .

Loads of companies will offer a "matched NCB" anyway even if you are not with them, you just can't protect it.

I had my ZX as a daily driver insured with Lifesure until I got my Rav. Lifesure offered to insure the Rav with another max NCB, as did a few other companies (eg Direct Line, Bell Direct) but it was cheaper to switch my main policy to the Rav and insure the ZX as a classic.

The other advantage is if I offload the Rav later I can just switch the ZX back to my main car and cancel the classic policy which won't mean too much of a loss as it was cheap in the first place....

Good luck

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I've just added a 2nd car to my policy with houghtons, the

z is now in classic status (5k per annum). Added a 1.6 astra,

n-reg as a daily driver. Cost £600 for the pair f/c. ;)
