Crankup problem

hi guys,

First I came accross a guy on 300zx.com forum who says this site is under contruction. I think this is becausse he does not see any discussion going on here.

Anyway to get thing moving, I have a little problem you guy can help me with. I noticed recently that my car dont startup as used to. I know it's not spark plugs or injectors. I'm yet to rule out PTU and timing or MAF.

All the same I want some input on this. Many thanks

When is the last time you changed the fuel filter?

You might also check the fuel pressure regulator.

Are you having any hesitating problems?

Is the engine cutting out after warm-up?

Just a shot in the dark here, check to see if you have any error codes on your ECU.

Good Luck.

Checked the following today:

Fuel pressure okay, swap MAF. I will see how it start-up in the morning

Is engine cutting out after warm-up? Well not cut off but at times, idle drops and instantly picks up. I just fitted new Idle/air regulator so I will rule that out.

Fuel filter is very recent - about 3 months ago with new fuel pump.

I'm kind of thinking it could be the PTU. I'll also check timing too and see.

I agree, I think it can be confusing to visitors who are not registered when they first visit.

Perhaps if the Site gave a message to guests, or if they were allowed to view posts, but can not search or post..etc (Thats how other forums usually work)

You mean its hard to start when its been stood? Usually caused by a faulty non return valve on the fuel pump assembly. To test for this, turn the ignition on but don't turn the key to crank the engine, just so the lights come on and the fuel pump primes. Once its finished priming, turn the ignition back off, wait a second or two and do it again. Try this 5 or 6 times then try to start the car. If it starts then its the non return valve letting the fuel drop back to the tank after you turn the engine off. Either stick a second hand pump assembly in there or replace the non return valve :)
