Having recently had my 99 Spec front fitted and a new front no plate from http://www.fancyplates.com I was wondering who's done this and had hassle from plod? Be interesting to see if certain regional forces are more tolerant than others...

Me, based in Croydon, travel all around the South East (Kent, Sussex, Surrey) and not had a pull yet.

Vote away..

Steve :)

I got done for a set of italic plates they was in bold normal size and would say more legeble than a standard plate had to pay 30 quid fine! would def get nicked for a small plate around the southend area :(

Got pulled by the bogey's a few weeks back, front plate is

aprox 10''x2''. Didn't say a word about the plate ;)

just gave me 3pts & a £60 fine for speeding :(

Steve - no tug yet. Had a tiny plate on for about a year I guess. My new 99 front will have NO plate at all. See how the boys in blue like that one! I have shaved the mount off. Looks loads neater.

" Oh, sorry officer.........its fallen off - but here it is, in the boot".

i got pulled and fined for a normal size plate because 2 of the letters were about 5mm out....the quote "nothing better to do" springs to mind

I've a small plate with take the piss letters for 4 years now 'HARVE', been nicked for speeding & spot checks etc, no greiff whatsoever!

They say there just checking ownership & details etc. :)

harve..............off to find a piece of wood!

Although I voted for normal size plate that's not entirely true. I have bike sized letters for the rear plate (so that it fits right on an import plate) and I also have the same size on the front. The font is slightly odd, but not obviously so. Never had any hassle, but there again I have a blue car, and as everyone knows, it's only red cars and lunatics that get nicked ! ;)

Got pulled by PC 1234 Jobsworth in Notts one night because of Illegal spacing, had a chat with him, he said if i ever see you again here with them plates on he'd nick me!!

Saw him about 30 mins later, note book came out, address was given, Letter throught the door a couple of weeks later saying that the CPS dropped the charges!!

LMFAO!!

I got pulled once for it, in Nottingham got a £30 fine.

Told the officer that i payed good money for the reg so it would look like barks so if it costs me £30 every now and then so what!!!

A week later i got a nasty letter from DVLA threatening to withdraw my reg!

Never get pulled locally though.

Managed to get away with a 14x4 plate for almost erm....... oh yeah 2 weeks!!!

Got my plates on velcro fastening for quick change at shows, but won't use them on the road anymore.

I've had my fair share of grief from plod about my numberplates.

never been pulled for it in a car, but many many times on my bikes. Could have been the "you'll never take me alive filthy copper" on the bottom of it tho :) Got pulled in wimbledon one evening and the cop pulled a "Starwars" ruler to measure the plate, I wemnt into a rant about using a calibrated measuring instrument if he was going to do me, when my buddy who had stoped with me, reminded me that there was no rent on the bike, shut me mouth, took it on the chin:)

Lets all live in Vegas, no front plates needed and if its a new car some drive round with none - dont ask me how or why but its true, seen it with my own eyes, lucky ba**ards.

but in line with conversation, I have a mate with a small reg been driving around for two years so far. he's had some comments from coppers whilst being pulled for speeding but nothing more serious about the plate itself.

Well living in Richard Brunstrom's domain I wouldn't even attempt to get away with small plates because there would probably be a copper watching me fit them!:D

Just to say that I didn't actually get the tug from plod, but ex-Mrs T did in the 300. But speaking to someone who knows of this particular bacon chop he has a thing for the lady's which is probably why he stopped her!

Now have a normal sized plate on.

Got pulled by the bogey's a few weeks back, front plate is

aprox 10''x2''. Didn't say a word about the plate ;)

just gave me 3pts & a £60 fine for speeding :(

I drove around for a year withour a number plate on the front of my car. I got pulled once in the whole year, and the only thing i got was his phone number.

But anyway Small number plates look better i think.
