On a serious note, I really appreciated you help Mark :),

I would also like to say thanks so Mike Groves and MTL who have also lent a hand at various stages. It's good to have friends who are willing to drive miles just to help .

I'll be getting that crankshaft out this weekend. If I can get that bloody sprocket off

took one off the other day Stu, if you are talking about the "inner" sprocket, a splash of penetrsting oil and a flat blade screwdriver behind it does the trick :)

LMAO :D

What they put you in A&E Mark? Did you upset them or summat? :D

I take it you're talking about the bottom sprocket for the cambelt? Screwdriver behind it will more than likely just crack the oil pump casing - not good unless you are replacing (advisable tbh). Only proper way to get them off is to cut a groove down its axis then drive a chisel in to split it open, then it should slide straight off :) Watch you don't damage the crank though when cutting it. Of course you'll need to buy a new one after you've butchered it too :)

Mine came off quite easy, no damage, but can see, if you were to get cak handed, how you could damage something. I found it only took a gentle persuasion, using alternate sides, of course.

We were hitting the thing with bolsters and a large hammer the thing wasn't moving !!!

Gonna have to cut it then m8 :( You need to cut it along the line of the crank, where the slot is for the locating pin. Once you have cut it, drive a chisel from the front into the groove, and it should just pop apart and slide straight off :)

Yeh i rung several garages that do Zeds and they all said to cut/drill it off to save any damage so thats what i did and a new one was about £30 i think :)

Oh dear!

Hope you have not bent the crank.

I was thinking the same thing tbh was also a little suprised that you started grinding/cutting out flashings etc with the crank still in place  :(

I had to cut mine off too. tried everything, heating it, fitting a puller etc. only way is to cut her off. they are only £28 from nissan UK, however they are on back order.

P.S. If you need any more help just give us a call.

Souns like a Biatch of a job especially when you could damage the Crank from over forcing it to come off...

lol thanks for your concern about the bending of the crank guys.

no damage was done. Mark Knows what he's doing ;)

Ive got this job to do at the weekend, looks a right mission is the ally oil pump housing part of the pump or just a cover, I'll be getting a new pump so if its part of it then should'nt matter to much if it gets damaged

well, the fact is that the engine I have just stripped down was sat, without a sump, in a garden for months, so i would have thought that it would have been more difficult than a normal scenario. maybe i am just lucky:)
