Ok we are goign to run a game of unreal tornament tonight at say around 9 pm onwards

we can get on msn then post ip and i get to whoop all your arses

OK, we will post an ip address on this thread later tonight, hopefully around 7:30. The game will then start at some other time shortly after (also to be posted).

 

To join the game, you need to go to the main menu, go to the multiplayer menu and select open location. Enter the IP address of the game in here and you will be connected.

 

Note: before joining the game, can you please go into the "Player" menu and change the name of your character to that of your screen name on the forum. This is so we know who we are shooting at

Forgot to mention, Unreal Tournament does not like people with earlier versions of the game joining with newer versions. If you want to play, please make sure you are up to version 436 (this is shown on the far right of the main menu bar within the game). The first released version of the game was 400. Warren and I have a patch to upgrade to 436, it's about 7 meg but we can email it to anyone who needs it or you can download it from one of the game web sites.

Im in. If people want I can put the patch on my site, for a faster download cos it took me ages to find a server that let me download at a decent speed.

Also anyone using personal skins please dont use them becuase every one else will have to download them too, before joining the game.

Whos hosting? Is it you Warren? Do you have the bonus pack installed?

Stuart, if you can host the patch 400 -> 436 on your site and advertise the URL on this thread by this evening then that would be great. I guess the modem users will need a fair while to download something like that so the sooner the better.

 

Good point about using personal skins or custom levels. We don't want any of that. It makes it a pain in the butt for the modem users.

 

Warren or I will be hosting tonight (got some testing to do when I get home to see who is best suited). I do not have the bonus pack installed (neither does Warren) so the game is totally "stock". Nothing extra to download for anyone.

 

Tooley, not too keen on those games (DF2 is good though). Get UT, go on, you know you want to Do you have Quake 3? Anyway, we can try different games over time and see what everyone likes. Tonight will be very much a trial run with, I fear, much disconnecting and silly networking problems!

Well played everyone. I'm a bit out of practice from not playing UT for months. I'll get some more practice in and then maybe I'll win some

Yup, very enjoyable (when I wasn't having network problems and being kicked out of the game ).

 

We'll definitely do it again sometime soon. I'm gonna try and get my machine sorted out as a server as it wouldn't accept connections (and the firewall was off). Should be a bit of an improvement over Warren's machine as it's about 10 times faster

 

Nice to see some people from other car forums. Had at least one person from the 200SX and Supra forums.

 

Anyone want to set a date/time to organise the next one?

Well thats the first time I have played multiplayer and I was thourghly slaughtered. Its much harder than playing against the bots. I need more practice.

I was comprehenivly slaughtered by Andrew Ingram last night to the tune of 22 to -1 lol. So i have a theory A: he definatly cheated

B: My bot was ill, and couldent run very well, cause the shoes he was issued were non military spec

Hehe. I told you, the reason I was much better last night was because my connection was working nicely. The big game on Monday was like playing on a 28.8 modem for me, it was a nightmare. One minute I'd be shooting at someone, the next I'd be facing a wall in another room with someone shooting me in the back (when I wasn't being disconnected). Not ideal! Last night though, oh baby. Nothing short of armageddon
