The correct answer is NONE :tongue: However, 3 out of 6 have completely destroyed the ring lands, with one ring being broken into 3 pieces :D So, 14.0 second standing 1/4 @ 104mph on 3 pistons (@14psi) - this is gonna get interesting me thinks ;) I'll get some piccies taken and post them up on here. Don't you just love a bit of destruction :D

 

Basically, the wastegate actuator hose on the drivers side split, then when the 2 lines were tee'd together for the boost controller, this effectively meant BOTH weren't connected. >26psi on stock injectors and stock ICs is very fun but not for long LMAO. Amazing thing is, apart from the ring lands the pistons are absolutely fine, which would suggest NO detonation, although one plug has shattered the insulator on the nose so something was happening in there :D

 

Next year @ pod is gonna be VERY interesting me thinks ;)

I thought I would ask PE themselves if they have better actuators or have a housing that can accomadate external wastegates.

 

Heres the email that I recieved that I thought may interest some.

 

"Those turbos were not designed to exceed 1.3kgm cm/2 or 19PSi. Runing any more then this boost level completely exceeds the thermal effiency of the turbochargers meaning running increased boost pressure could cause turbo failure and the gains would be minimal per PSi. If you were to run stiffer wastegate springs the actuator mounting brackets could possibly and may already be folding. To obtain greater power it would be best to run larger turbos at the sacrifice of lower-end power but in turn they would generate more efficient air flow at higher boost levels. "

 

Interesting that it sounds like they expect the mounting bracket to be pritty damn weak.

Were PE talking about the turbos running on a VG30DETT though? ;) Its not just about pressure, its about FLOW as well, so lower flow (feeding 3 cylinders as opposed to 4) means higher pressure is possible within the efficiency areas :) They'll be fine :D Anyway, I wasn't running >26psi on purpose, the actuator line split so the wastegates never opened :tongue: :D ;)
