VOTE!...SeperateTech Forum or not?

Just answer YES or NO as to whether there should be a seperate technical forum or not.At least we will all know the general concensus, and let Craig know what we think wink.gif

NO

Yes

OK! so far it's a dead heat....

YES= 15

NO = 15

Abstain = 1

i could make a tech forum moderated, and appoint some people to do that job

but as soon as they do something that falls under that role, they would become targets for this type of thing all over again

i am not bothered either way, this whole thing has gotten out of hand.

THE WHOLE POINT OF MY ORIGINAL POST WAS TO ASK FOR SOME COMMON SENSE WHEN REPLYING TO TOPICS, THAT WAS IT !!!

Chris,I know, but at the moment the Tech. threads are being lost down the page amongst more "chatty" topics, and as some of you profess to only come on here to read those types of (Tech)threads, then a seperate forum would make it easier for you.I don't think it would need moderating, as it would be an obviously tech. based forum, seperate from the usual chat!

Lets see what the voting outcome is!

i think, regardless of voting outcome, the fact that so many people want a pure technical forum almost warrants having one, imho

so i may go with that, it doesn't mean you all have to use it if you dont want to, depends on the type of advice you are looking for i guess.... wink.gif

NO - this one is plenty!

Sorry, I vote for NO as well - just use NZR as previously stated..

Think people have learnt their lesson that on 'technical' threads ONLY technical answers should be given...

Robb

YES

YES!

Sorry it's more than one word but I wanted to make my opinion clear.

Unfortunately I do think a seperate froum is necessary. I was against the idea and still am in a way, but if this is a proper members type area then the members have a say in the way it works... I realise there are no membership costs or the like but still.....

If the tech forum is set up you don't have to use it wink.gif Tech stuff can still be put in the general forum just don't expect a straight answer every time biggrin.gif

Personally, I am split as to whether witty comments should be put in a tech thread - sometimes the thread starts to sound like a broken record and just as I'm about to give up reading, wah-hey a little humour from somebody who actually has a pulse biggrin.gif However I do realise that a tech question deserves a tech answer - it's just got way out of hand....

So let the forum split into as many pieces as it takes and post in whatever bloody section you want - only if it has any sort of humour make sure its in the General section.

Just as an example, how many times have you seen something for sale in the general forum? Exactly! More of the for sales end up in the general cos nobody reads the for sale forum wink.gif

Ok, thats my ONE word, but you didn't say how many words could follow it biggrin.gif

So to cut it short...... YES (grudgingly)

CheerZ,

Andy

PS sorry if this caused any laughter or sniggering whilst reading - these were just the views of the writer at the time of going to press....... biggrin.gif

And one other point - if it is set up as a serious tech then will biggrin.gif or smile.gif or wink.gif or any other smilies be allowed? I don't think they should as these depict witt and the like..... wink.gif

CheerZ,

Andy
