i have a 1993 t/t 300zx and wanna change the speaker anyone know what size they are in the doors and in the rear ??

Featured Replies

There are only 4 in total, yes.

Pete- you said 6" in the doors, but looking online I only see either 5.25" or 6.5". I presume it's actually 6.5"???

In fact, can anyone recommend some straight-forward upgrades?

I read 6.5" when searching before fitting mine ages ago. Bought 6.5" but the screw holes dont line up, physically they fit in but I consequently found references to 6" ones.

Wonder if there are different sizes amongst series models?? Mines a 1990 Jap

some setups had 5. Do a google for Bose and 300ZX.

The jap version had the oiption of speakers mounted in sealed boxes with individual amps (which mine has) lovely :) Shame I am tone deaf.lol

6.5"s will go in with minimal work. Always go for a two way setup or even a component set. The component set will need some moddification, because it is two speakers. One 6.5" and the other around 1" but you have enough room behind the grill to fit them both. Some people would prefer the tweeter, or the smaller speaker to be higher up the door, but you would need to cut the panel for this.

The rears are as was said before 6"x4". These are the babby brother of the 6"x9" you see every where, but they produce verry little base. If it's moor power you want then there are a number of moor powerfull speakers, 150w or moor you can go for. If it is base you are looking for, you will be looking at bigger speakers and that means cutting the car about, or the addition of a sub speaker in the boot.

Say again??

Taken from a previous post by myself, regarding fitting some JBL GTO525e's,

I've read on other posts regarding the front speakers, that some say they are 6 inch or bigger, well I've just done some measuring and the circular part is 13cm (5.25 inch) but the overall total diameter is 15.3 cm (6 inch). The only mod that I can see, and still retaining the metal bracket, is that you have to drill some new screw holes, as stock speakers use 3 screw fitting and these are 4 screw fitting. But that isnt a prob as i had to drill these when I fitted the JVC ones.

that may be of use to you, or not ;)
