I have looked everywhere for performance figures for my '90 NA manual import and cant find them on the net anywhere?

Does anyone know what they are?

The only thing I can say for sure is the top speed of 112mph!

Jock sent me a list of mods:

Truth is, it is not a 220bhp car. the car was advertised as 220 bhp at the crank, not the wheels, you will probably be running about 180 at the wheels. De-restriction, an induction kit and a nice pipe and a chip will make it feel 10 times better and sound about a hundred times better. You can tune it further than that but its a good start.

Thanks Jock - Any idea what I would be looking at once this has been done?

Cheers

Steve

Yeah fella, get it derestricted! I have a 1990 NA. Has a K&N induction kit and has been chipped. Ive had it to around 145. In the middle of a few mods at the mo, so hopefully it will go a bit faster when i'm finished. I'll let you know.

But do you know 0-60 times for the standard model and what I can expect after the mods?

Only had this car for a week and already i wanna go faster. I might trade it in for a TT. Somehow my insurance is next to nothing so why not?

I got my car through a swap so I have no idea what it's worth. Am I likely to get a good trade-n value against a TT?

standard 0-60 is around seven I think. iTs unlikely you will get a trade in against a TT, most guys looking to sell their cars are looking for cash rather than a trade in.

Tell us ALL about your next to nothing insurance...please

I was Driving a 1990 BMW 735 SE and found a classic insurance who classes any car 1990 or older as a classic they quoted me £240 fully comp, when I changed it over to the Zed, they asked for only an extra £35? I only got the policy in June so I reckon a full year would be £300 - I dunno about you but for a 30 yr old living near London with only 1 yrs NCB I reckon thats pretty good.

They insured the Zed no problemo - they also gave me free breakdown recovery and 90 days fully comp in Europe.

I might be asking a lot of questions cuz I'm a newbie - but at least I can be useful to some of ya..

Oh yes the name?

It's J R Hartley - Sorry its Carole Nash They are on the net and are really quick

But remember they only touch cars pre 1990

I sound like an advert for them dont I? - I think I'll shut up now!

do they say the car has to be garaged or off the road? problem I have is that all the calissic car policies I have tried say I cant park the car on the street, live on a terrace so no choice :(

i have used carol nash before loads of times with my bike policies and they are a very good company very reasonable price , they actualy pay out promptly in the case of a claim ( and i hope you never get one ) and do what it says on their tin so to speak .......i didnt know they had gone over to car insurance though

Stevie,

Sorry to tell you mate they do NOT insure imports, i know from experience :(

I was supposidly insured with them for 2 months then when i had to produce it came out that i was not covered. Had it all out with the manager of Carol Nash and they agreed to cover me for the ticket but then cancelled my insurance.

Get it sorted with them ASAP or the worse really could happen :(

In my office "Carole Nash" is rhyming slang for 'slash'.

She's the biggest motorbike insurer in the UK and started her company with a redundancey check.

More to the point: I'd say my auto 300 NA is definatly slower to 60 than my pre-cat 200SX so maybe 7.5 seconds? It's faster above that speed than my 200 I think as it's more powerful and weight is less important at higher speeds.

im with carol nash an mine's an import 91, im just doin a claim now an all is fine :)
