Replace hi-beam bulb

Hi,

I've just replaced the dipped light on my j-spec tt with PIAA bulbs, and it made quite a difference - can finally drive after sundown without night vision goggles.

Now I bought new H1 Osram SilverStar bulbs for the hi-beams, but I just can't get the old ones out.

Is there a trick to it?

I can't really see the fitting, as there's hoses and stuff covering it up. I gripped the plastic square thing where the wires are attached and tried to pull it straight out, twist it both ways, and push it in and twist it. But it won't cooperate at all.

What's the easiest way to get it out?

The bulb is held in with a spring clip (same as low beam) Its a bit fiddly but if u pull off the waterproof cover etc you should be able to get to the clip. pop it out in 1 and then you can get a bit of leverage on the connector because you can get to it. Its probably not been off before and thats why its stuck.

H1 bulb fits into a holder which must also be removed.

Remove the connector and the rubber dust cover. At the bottom of the holder, below the 3 connecting prongs you will see 2 small metal spring clips. Squeeze them inward together and pull straight back and out. You then pull the bulb from the holder, pop the new one in and push the holder/bulb assembly back into the headlight until the spring clips clip firm.

It's a bit fiddly but you'll get there in the end ;)

I have the Osram Silverstars in my full beam and they are trully F'ing good
