Warning light . (What is it?)

Question from my mate Sunny GTI-R owner but sure this light appears on 300zx.

Sorry for description in advance.

Red light, squareish box with what looks like intake pipes and exhaust (guess box could be engine) with lightening type symbol in box( please excuse description its secon-hand)

Any suggestions as to what this could be?

Many thanks...regardz

I think this is the exhaust gas/temp light to warn of possible Cat damage.

I presume it's to do with how lean the engine is running.

Not an expert so might be wrong!

Cheers for Info....

However the CATS/CAT has been removed on this vehicle, the light is apparently random and has had no effect on Car performance.

Could this just be fault sensor etc...or something more sinister?

Any ideas?

Just a thought, but if the cats are removed then the temp sensors (whether they be exhaust gas temp or cat temp) coulod be dangling free and shorting on something occasionally. Kind of depends on whether the sensors fail open or closed really, but probably worth a look underneath with a torch.
