I have a 1993 t/t 300zx and wanna know what the situation on detonation is with them. I had an impreza before which blew up twice due to det so am very wary these days!!

Do the have sensors already to detect it or what can i do to make sure this dosent happen. I already use optimax and will be using octane booster to try and keep it up to jap spec petrol , but is there anything i can do like an ecu remap to uk fuelling ??? Help please!

yes get the ecu mapped to uk fuel then you dont have to use octane booster. The 300 is not as bad of the scooby for detting with fuel. There is a det sensor in the engine and if it senses detting it knocks the car into safety boost (7psi) to protect it.

what is a good remap chip to go for and where is a good place to get it fitted and setup ??

JWT chips are always a good bet, chris on here does a chip (getgreddy) so i would start there matey.

Subscribe are you get a decent discount with all our traders!! well worth the £20 :)

Try Ryan (Baggins on here) at Ztech in the traders too. As he'll fit it & map it correctly for a very very good price :)

Chris is good, but he's way oop north, whereas Z·tech is in Berkshire, probably a bit easier for you to travel to.

I just got mine done by Ryan. custom mapped chip and its brilliant.

hello mate

my car seems to be running 7psi all the time, does the dett sensor keep it at 7 or put it back to 9psi after it feels no dett taking place. my jspec boost gauge is reading 3.5hg on full boost wich i think is 7psi

i think it keeps it there until the ecu is reset so might be worth taking the battery off for a few hours to reset it then crank her up and do an ECU test to see whats wrong, if it shows code 55 then go for a spin then do another and see what code it gives then

IF the car is in safety boost due to a dett sensor it will reset once you turn the ignition off, if there is a problem for example code 34, on start up it will automatically put it straight back in to safety boost untill the problem is sorted , as kirbz says an ECU diagnostic should tell you what codes if any are showing up
