Does my friggin Zed go into crap mode whenever i put on the heating. its still has full turbo but it goes sluggish like somebody has attached a big weight to the back, when trying to drive normally (i.e without spoolong up the turbo's). the accelerator feels like somebody has swapped the spring for something stronger, giving the pedal a more spongy resitance feel.

i only use optimax, the car has recently been in for a full service, so i cant seem to work out what to do.

i notice the same when there are 3 or 4 people in the car - especially when im trying to show off  its not as if theyre 20 stone each or something

Could be the air con pump, try pressing the ECON button with the heating on and see if this makes it better.

The Air Con pump is automaticly switched off when you floor it ;)

An aircon compressor thats dragging and maybe faulty would load up the engine - and like Mathew says foot to the floor should cause aircon compressor to drop out while your foots planted. Try leaving it on econ - full function but no chillin or dehumidifying

Cheers tried this and my steering felt nice and light all the way to work and back home, plus it felt more lively. Though did go into saftey boost today for the first time in about 2 weeks. DOH

I didn't know that, those Japs think of everything.

The fact the steering was lighter must be a clue as surely the PAS pump comes off the same accessory drive as the A/C?

What signals the AC to switch off, the TPS or is it boost related (i.e ECU sees over X bar switches off AC)?
