Chiming at full power.

Hi,

When I do a full power kickdown in my '90 TT auto I can hear a rythmic gentle chiming sound from somewhere on the passenger side like a computer error warning.Any ideas what that may be?

Regards from Australia.

Does it only do it over certain speeds? Or at any speed?

Hi,It starts making the sound at about 120 kph.(About 72 mph)

Definately sounds like the Japanese speed limit alert. Behind your speedo clocks etc there is a green wire that that has to be snipped to stop the alert....

Hey Krooz..what's the Zed scene like in Cairns?

Chris Davies

Amphibious, I reckon they convert their Z's to boats during the wet season...

Many thanks for the tips on disabling the Jap speed alarm. There is maybe 6 zeds up here in North Queensland but lots of Skylines and Silvias.I've only had the Z for about 4 weeks and I'm still getting used to the awesome power. The only mods to it are straight through stainless steel rear boxes. The sound it makes at 7000 rpm in 2nd is just beautiful, who needs stereo?? 2 great drives up here, one road hugs the coast up to Port Douglas and another climbs up through the rainforest to Kuranda at about 2000 feet.
