Splish - Splash I was taking a bath ... in my Zed!

Ohhhhhh, will this infernal rain ever stop!

Being sensitive to those of us who have real flooding problems, I've just experienced one myself ... but not the type you expect. Having had non-stop rain for the past 12-16 hours I got into my beloved Zed this afternoon only to be greeted by a "slosh-slosh" sound. Huh?! I scratch my head in disbelief but nothing sensible emerges so I carry on with the "boot-up" procedure of the car. Get about 2 miles down the road and start to feel a cold wetness (please don't take the piss for writing this) creeping up my right leg. I scratch my head again and take a quick peak down. Much to my surprise my feet are planted in a lake in which a pair of Koi Carp would not be out of place! Unbelievable! I've never had problems with my Targa's or door seals but I guess that non-stop rain was just too much! I've mopped up most of the water but am well pissed off that I've got a minor lake district in my car. Seems that the water came through the inner window seal where the two bits join up. Stupid place to join up a rubber seal me thinks...

Oh well, supose I'm not the only one whe's having watery trouble these days ....! wink.gif

Right, off to collect the girlfriend - better bring some lifejackets!

Cheers all, have a good (and dry) weekend!

LMAO!!! nice diving equipment, I suppose its an alternative to getting the seals fixed wink.gif

How do we overcome this leaking window marlarky..once and for all..this really pisses me OFF!!

My passenger window does this but not quite on such a scale that the BBC start to film the second series of 'The Blue Planet' in the footwell LMAO!

Someone said (actually I think it was me) that rubbing some Vaseline along the rubbers may sort it out - not got round to trying it.

Although Vaseline and Rubber are scary concepts LOL!

:)

Vaseline is petroleum based product, dont use it on rubbers as it will perish them (over time admittedly), there must be something else on the market similar but not petroleum jelly.

There is water repealant stuff available that people use on convertable hoods, not sure what its called though. But I think the only way to fully stop this is to fit new rubbers.

If you look at the rubbers you will see that it should have little flaps that stick straight up, I reckon over the years the flaps get pressed into the flat position and can no longer seal correctly.

I was thinking of bending coat hanger wire into shape then glueing it into place so that the flaps would stick straight up(a bit Blue Peter I know!).

However tomorrow I'll try and get a price from S&E Parts for the replacement rubber bits as that may be the only proper way. My girlfriend beat the crap out of me cos her arse got soaked biggrin.gif thanks to my passenger side leaking like a tap frown.gif
