Problem number 2

Think i may have worked out what puts my car i safty boost and suspect the car only goes into safty when the Air-Con is on and ive been driving for about 10 mins. I havent heard any det but i could be wrong.

Running a Cretral 20 chip with 1mm boost jets, but do have some Baggins mapped ones i can put in.

Any ideas?

heat could be the cause of this problem .

turning on the Aircon will have a strong influence on the engine temperature...sometimes up to +10 Celcius and especially on auto's it can even cause overheating problems (since the AT box is also cooled through the radiator)

Detonation will occur far more easily on engines that are running (too) hot and especially when running tunes from Japan, which are usually too aggresive for european fuel.

May sound silly, but what plugs are you running? Mine always

went into safety boost every time i went to the pod or billing!

About a 40mile journey. I recently fitted some No7 (colder) plugs

in mine, as opposed to No6 (standard). Went to the pod on

sunday......no safety boost :) The plugs i fitted were greddy/trust

available from chrisgreddy.

I s'pose i depends on what mods you have. I have a mines ecu, blitz

filter, hks pipe, 1mm boost jets @12.5 psi.

did quite a lot of testing with the airconn etc on my auto and the difference when putting it on was quite scary in terms of the temp jump espeacially under heavy load i.e up hills etc I did see jumps as high as 20 degrees celcius , so binned mine completelly , now not only does the car stay cooler, when the temp does go up it comes down much quicker with the condensor gone

The Chip you have marcus is mild and will certainly not give you any problems in terms of fueling etc

ryan i still have the central 20 chip in. could be as it seems to be when i give her mile accelation (no kickdown) at low revs with the aircon on, you watch the turbo guage go up, the engine then drops revs and saftey boost kicks in and u can see the guage drop.

would be interesting to put a Conzult on your car whilst doing a journey just to see whats going on with your temp etc , my money though would probably be on the chip leaning things out too much (to gain power) put one of the other ones in and see if you still have the same prob

Also check base timing (with a timing light)...should be 15BTDC spot on
