Has anyone ever successfully cleaned out all parts of the AAC valve only i need to check it this weekend and want to see how difficult is to get off.It looks like a nightmare!

Any tips??????????

Also is it worth cleaning out the air filter as i haven't touched it for a year or so?

It is a bit of a nightmare to fiddle with - I never got as far as fetching it off. Cracking writeup here...

Just cleaning the connectors helped my idle a lot.

Is it an aftermarket filter?

Yes, I have and it wasn't too difficult. In fact the inside wasn't even dirty so it was mostly a waste of time, except that it gives you the oppotunity to clean the green crud off the electrical connections. Top tip is to take the battery out to gain access.

Definitely remove the battery - it makes life a lot easier, as Andy said.

If you have a socket set with a variety of different extension lengths, you shouldn't have too many problems, although it's still not an easy job. The main problem I had was that my socket with the extension kept hitting the firewall and without it wasn't long enough to reach the bolts.

Also bear in mind that the gasket is quite likely to break as you take the unit off, and Nissan are unlikely to have one in stock, so you may want to get hold of one before you start the job. If you don't you may have to wait a few days before you can put it back together, like it did.

yup, also done mine. just watch out for the small springs under the plungers ;)
