"98" imported Jap import! So been in the UK for 8 years!! 3 inch round hole in inner wing right under the Battery :( Did not know it was there untill i did the brakes and saw a small Rusty hairline crack in the Underseal!!! So i poked it with my finger and it was just underseal!!!!:( all the metal had corroded away!! the underseal was the only thing hiding it..I can now see the Passenger side turbo!! :)

Also Nearside rear arch starting to go at outer sill/arch return and inner sill/jacking point!

Offside Perfect! :) Slight surface rust under front cross member no other holes or rust found after Giving the car a good major inspection....

Under the Battery tray on most cars can give problems with corrosion due to some acid leakoff over a few years so it would be advisable for most people to inject a good amount of Waxoil down there as its double skinned and a pain in the A*se to get to!!

Even though this thread was over 2 years old and most Jap imports were spotless at the Time!! Some jap imports must be showing some levels of Rust by now as most have been used in the UK for a number of years now!! :)

Here my sills on a UK 92

Jesus, i need to sort mine out on my JSpec seams underneath before they start to look like that

mine look's all ok ...... :)

..j spec....

jap speck no rust whatsoever its the salt on british roads that rots them waxoil them death as soon as you get them saves a lot of work in later years.

Here my sills on a UK 92

That's going to need a proper repair - smoothrite, cardboard, filler and top coat!

This is the underside of a 1994 TT that I have just stripped. It was only in the UK from Japan for 4 weeks. Not a spot of rust..... Subframe etc totally rust free too.

And no I did not strip everything... left the brake pipes on
