IIRC Japan does not use salt on the roads, hence much less rust.

Yeah they use volcanic ash or something I think. UK Spec, rusty as fook but thats not what its all about ;):D Had the sills done, got some arches ready to go on, replaced front crossmember last year....

As do New Zealand which is why their cars last forever too.

My J spec has a random blotch of rust at the bottom of the rear windsreen, but none anywhere else.

  • 3 months later...

None at all

J-spec and a slight bit under the OEM spoiler (which is soon to be replaced) but apart from that it's OK

I read in a buyers guide that all zed's have the same undersealing done,

whether jap or uk?

Anyway.....mines a jap with no rust at all :)

Its possible some may say that there lying little FookerZ. :x:

I have 90 j.spec import...No rust

No underseal....so prehaps they forgot to do this one.....

Either that or the fact its black means that rust is unable to pentrate "ThE DaRkSiDe"

Soooooo many reasons to have a black Z...not enuff space to list em

Not startin the whole darkside issue again....

Im just whoreing :D

1990 J-Spec, not a sign of it anywere, i think its because its red, and rust prefers the black ones that allways look dirty

1990 jap , silver not a speck of rust , very impressed , not many cars 15 years old can boast that

You guys on here that had sill replacements, which part of the sill was it? Just got my car from MOT and told it had a bit of corrossion by the driver's side rear suspension pick up, on the inner sill. Is this replaceable? Or is it a 'cut a bit out and patch it' area? I want to replace entire panels if they are corroded, I hate patching bits up... Especially as it seems so hard to find bodyshops that will do a job to last... The number of times I've had to argue and say "Ok, I know it's 14 years old but I've spent a lot of money on it and I'm keeping it, so don't tell me again to patch it up and sell it!!"

Any recommendatiosn for a GOOD body shop that knows our cars is greatly appreciated, don't mind travelling up to 100 miles from London...

Jap 1990, no rust I can see, undersealed in the factory. According to Nissan GB - and others, yes they do underseal all cars in the factory

Zero rust on my import but i really dont like the stippled, bubbly like finish on the sils below the doors and at the bottom of the rear bumper... yes i am sure its not rust either heh.

My dad had a Citroen BX that though never rusted had the bonnet and roof fade to a lighter shade of red than the rest of the body.

Not a hint of rust. The people that have worked on my car have always said it's one of the cleanest examples they've ever seen.

Only one small bit that will be sorted once it's resprayed. Not bad for a 14 year old car that's been used as a daily runner by all it's owners and to my knowledge never been parked in a garage either IMHO

Oh yer its a Uk Spec
