New Clutch Advice Needed

Hi All,

I'm getting some nasty noises when the clutch is down, and almost grinding like sounds when changing gear. This doesn't always happen, but does seem to be getting worse.

I've been told its the thrust bearing, but figured while that is being done, i might as well get a clutch pack and do the lot (don't think it's had a new clutch in it). It's a 1990 Jap Import Non-Turbo, Z32 SWB.

Any advice of where and how much for a decent clutch would be grately appreciated. So far i've been quoted £113.36 inv VAT from BuyPartsBy, £223.25 from Speedways (they could only get Bluechip, or something). Also checked Courtesy Parts and they have disc assembly/pressure plate/release bearing/pilot bushing for £123.08.

Thanks,

Jester

Yup, sounds like the release bearing. if the cars stock then a genuine clutch will prob be best - try mike feeney at MJP in our traders section. or a decent clutch from a motor factors.

if you want to mod then speak to smithy in our traders section for uprated jobbies.

The cars modded but not much. Only power mods done are decat, two 4" backboxes and an induction kit. Will be doing more in the future, but not for a while.

If yer gonna be thinking about upgrading in the future mate, for the small extra amount of product cost, go for it now to save gearbox off again in the future.

An RPS sport for the N/A is around the £235 area, feels no real different to a stock one, but will happily take the extra power in the future, it comes as a complete kit as well, so nowt else to buy, though i do extra's ermmm :p

Blueprint is in fact a nissan unit, so no improvement over stock only that it's new. If that's anygood just get intouch through here or my website below and can sort you out. N/A ones though are to order and this takes approx 8-9 days from me ordering it and i order from the US twice weekly for various goods.

cheers

Sounds good to me, but i'll need a while to save up the cash (strange, but buying and running the zed has left me pretty much skint :D ). Will let you know when i have it. Does the above price include delivery? :)

I have to ask: what extra's do you do? LOL

Oh, out of interest, the £115 i got quoted for a clutch kit, does that sound a bit too cheap for a standard kit?

It certainly does mate, seeing as Blueprint is same as the nissan one..

extra's are uprated pivot ball and stainless braided clutch line.

Click my site and go into the clutch area for more info mate, and yeah all my prices are delivered by recorded/registered delivery.

cheers

Jester, gotta say the RPS Sport from Smithy is A1, get one and you will not regret it they are awesome...I've had mine in for 2 weeks now and I am really happy with the performance.

Thanks Tattooman. Think i will as soon as i have the cash LOL. At least that way i don't have to worry about any increase in power i make for her :D

Trust me you can give it some real welly and it will take it all day long without even getting or smelling hot...
