Does anyone know where I cxan get a wiring diagram fopr the dash electrical system? I'm looking for a constant 12v feed from the battery as when I turn the ignition off EVERYTHING in the cockpit goes dead and loses memory ie radio and climate control. I've taken a wire from the batt through the window to test it, everything seems to be on a parallel circuit. Is it possible to connect a supply to one device, ie radio to make everything work or must I connect everything seperatly to stop it drawing too much current??

Hope I've made sense!

On night shift this week so I've got ALL day to tinker, yeah :hyper:

Thanks Andrew

The power supply routing is usually a mystery on most cars and the zed wiring is no different, however the memory supply to the radio could be a fault within the loom or even at the ignition switch.

As you rightly have stated the wiring to the circuits you have a problem with are all linked so attaching a supply to one part of the circuit appears to make the other items work ok when attached directly to the battey.

The only problem with doing is this way is the cables to the individial items may have different current loadings and if could introduce a possible cable overload if you say connected to a low current device that was also linked to a higher current device, the cable in between would most likely be undersized and there would be a real danger of an electrical fire from overheating so you must find the fault and correct it there.

Thanks for that, just what I thought! I'll get the multimeter out again tomorrow!

Andrew,

I've had a look at the wiring diags for you, and the yellow wire that feeds the permanent 12volt to the radio is from the same circuit that feeds the climet controll unit, so have a look, with the ignition switch to OFF, to see if you have power on here first. If not the there is a 10amp fuse that feeds both parts of this circuit that will need checking first.

Here you go, (un-healthy interest in this one :D, as it may help me out as well) On-Line service manual section EL-6

Shows the power control/distribution circuit. Conector M10 on the left of the pic (top if you turn it the right way round ;))shows the 3A wire (Y = Yellow) that goes to the A/T Control unit, Auto A/C Control amp, Audio, Clock HICAS Control unit and the warning chime..... ie; items that you are having problems with.
