itunes help

I thought I'd try paying for music and downloading it the legal way.

So I signed up with Itunes and downloaded an albumn.

I want to make a cd or just put these songs on in one of my driectories but the files are mp4 which are protected even though I paid £7.99 for the albumn :(.

Anyone know how I can unprotect these and make them into mp3 files so I can put them on a cd ?.

Theres a programme called ifree that does it, however their site is currently down, probably taken down by apple

Thanks Dave, I'll give that a go.

Mike,

For some reason the menu option allows me to burn to CD's but the programs tells me that I can not burn these as they are protected files.

wondering if you sorted this m8??

because i downloaded one track i bought, i have got the original

but gave it to my lad for his car as i had mp3'd it, then realised i had a dodgy track, so easier to pay a quid for the track i wanted than wait for him

and as you say it is protected, as it comes down as wma

easiest way (if your running xp) is to use xp's drag and drop to the cd writer

it then checks for the licensing key (to check if its you that downloaded it)

then will burn to a cd, so you can then convert that cd to mp3

i did as couple of checks to see if it was protected, ie i put it to my mates ftp

and he downloaded it, but then it WOULDN'T play on his machine,

so i upped the mp3 and that was ok, so licence was removed, lol ignore all this if you sorted it m8, but may help anyone who comes across similar problems, there is loads of wma convertors out there but didn't bother trying them as above was easy enough;)
