RX7 3rd generation twin turbo.

Hi all, I'm looking for an RX7 for a change before i get my next ZX, have any of you owned one or know much about them?

I'm trying to find out what the difference is between the UK and Jap import spec, I've heard that the UK spec has less power? but they have the same 1.3 twin rotary and turbos? So it doesnt make sense to me, any help please? :-)

Cheers,

:)

Go for a Jap spec I say!

If I was gonna buy any other Jap car including a ZX I would go for an import.

Trevz,

My mate is selling his Jap Rx-7 type R if you're interested for 8k... I can get the details if ou like, but off the top of my head it's done about 60k miles, full Efini (spelling???)bodykit, Castrol decals, had quite a bit of money spent on it lately, but he's selling to buy a house.

They are fast... very fast, and much as I hate to admit it, it'll pee all over my Z. Not a lot of info know, but just thought you might be interested and if you are, let me know and I'll get more details to you.

Thanks but I'm just looking for more info' at the mo.

UK spec is about 237bhp and not quite as fast as a ZX (0-60 in 6.1 and 100 in under 16)

Jspec is around 260-280bhp and faster than a ZX but not by that much, once rolling. By 100 all should be even though.

Very nice cars, just make sure engine is a good one as they cost a lot to rebuild. I heard they don't take too kindly to synthetic oil either....

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

There was only ever 126 uk models sold, so you may struggle

to find a good one. Newera imports are always advertising some

nice rx7's, try to get a warranty with one if possible.

I've found a uk spec RX7 for sale just down the road, but I'm put off by the lower bhp.

Also found a black type R with a new engine and a few mods - induction, chipped, zorst, intercooler, should be quick :-))) I'll put a pic up if i get it!

Yeah mate private sale, 21 yo guy from weston.

I saw it tonight wanna buy it back now lol!

Nah I'll get an rx first , prob have a Z by xmas tho!

Mazdarotaryclub.co.uk is the place to look... there's a for-sale section there as well as plenty of gen. UK spec are hen's teeth so you may as well forget that...

Wasn't you that was quizzing us at the Pod was it?!

There are about a million versions, so just be really careful that the car really is the model the buyer thinks / says it is.

Aside from the obvious difference from the Z, remember also the twin-turbo models are sequential turbos, so not quite the same beast. Lots of modders bin all that plumbing and go for a single turbo.

Cooling seems to be the main thing to keep an eye on if you are modding...

And a 7 is lighter, handles as well as a Z, if not better, they're revvy as feck, they mod well, and they look good. Just so you know. :mac1:
