Well I've finally got round to changing my brakes, but I cant remove my old disc's. They seem well and truly stuck, I've tried a rubber hammer, a metal hammer, swear words but to no avail.

Any tips and hints would be great as I will try again tomorrow.

Later,

Trev

The disc should come right of, held inplace by the rim. WD-40 or something and let it sit, but make sure to clean the disc before u put it back on in that case, or u won't have any brakes at all...

Hit it harder from the back, maybe use a more solid hammer to unlock it!!!

Be careful!

So what brakes did you get Trey?

Well I got the discs off by hammering and screwing a bolt into one of the holes for the pulling kits. All seemed to be going well until I was securing the front right caliper when BANG!! One of the caliper support bolts snapped in half leaving half a screw thread stuck in the caliper!!

So now I have to take the caliper off and see if I can get someone to drill out the screw thread, and I was looking forward to bedding in the new pads! :(

Jez I got Porterfield R4-S front pads, EBC plain discs and Nissan rear pads. I think you'll have to tell me how good the R4-S pads are as my Z wont be going anywhere for a while!!

What a bugger! I'm sure you'll get it sorted soon, you'll enjoy your new pads!

Unless you have no option, run-in your new disks with your old pads. Although Porterfield pads do not normally require any bedding it's the way to go, new pads and disks cause much more heat at first... (I myself got this advice from Porterfield)...
