hesitation has progressed to stalling and not starting again!!

Oh poo,

only had the car back a week or two and already I've got big probs :(

The low down hesitation when pulling away has now progressed to the car stalling and not being able to start it again! (engine turns over fine just no spark or fuel starvation Im guessing)

Odd thing is If I leave it for an hour or two it starts and runs fine again  (so fuel pump should be ok) possibly a dodgy connection made worse when its all warm???

I'm now convinced that the low boost I was seeing is safety boost and not a leak, would a crappy injector connector lead to underfuelling and detonation (and then safety boost)?

MAF and air filter are bone dry so not a problem there.

I'm guessing clean or replace injector and coilpack connectors (i'd rather replace than just clean, the coil pack connectors are a bit ropey anyway) is the first step here,

anybody know who sells them in the UK?

would love to get it all done before the 10th otherwise it may be a no-show for me :(

If you need a loan PTU to check if this is the problem, let me know bud. If you wanted to keep it it (only 3 years old - done about 10k miles) I'm selling it for £60 plus P&P.

cybernet, is that a series 2 ptu? just done some research and apparently I should only be replacing it with the more reliable one.....

It's a series 1 mate so you won't need a harness. DaveC sells the series 2s for around £160 with harness. Let me know if you still want to borrow my one for testing as it may save you the expense anyway if yours is ok ;)

You could replace it with a S2(expensive), or install a replacement series one and relocate it off the Engine and onto the body.

The problem arises from the heat in the engine making contacts expand & contract continously, and with the vibration off the engine as the PTU contains fragile electronics inside, the PTU tends to get proper f***d.

So it might be a cheaper alternative to relocate a Series1 PTU onto the bodywork.

Btw this is exactly the same problem I had when my old blue Z had a shagged PTU.

Not being Mr Cluebody, but this is my understanding of what happens :D feel free to correct me :)

well i need to change the pcv's as the hoses dont look too clever on them , plus I may as well pre-empt the failure of my coilpack/injector connectors and replace them all along with a s2 PTU + harness, makes sense to do it all at the same time with the plenum off for extra room to work in... few hundred squids of parts there... :( just hope I can get em before the weekend....
