Headlight conversion " update"

Having just (10:12pm) come in from 4 hours in the rain refitting the headlights as pics below, I can report that it has been 150% success. The beam is now much wider and deeper the spread is even more impressive.I now have a clearly visiable lit area starting some 2 meters in front of the car to maybe 20 metres ahead! and the left dipping cut off remains ok, so ok mister Mot man and oncoming traffic.I am well pleased, I am off for a shower and a cuppa will be back about 11:00pm Jeff TT

Jeff - is it just a vinyl film that you used?

I have a broken mounting on one of my lights so need to remove one for fixing anyway.

Would be very interested in getting this done/doing it myself if instructions are posted...

Almost Cos its a foil leaf, you have to apply it slowly with a hair dryer. The effect is startling, much better than I imagined.

Jeff TT

Jeff,

Can I be first???

PLEASE!!

I can't see........and I'm local biggrin.gif

Seriously, Jeff, I reckon you ought to do this on exchange.. Look at the uptake already..

I imagine people would probably easily pay around the £100 mark, maybe more.. What do people reckon?

Not quite just having them cleaned Andy - also the inside surfaces chromed, and I seem to remember reading that Jeff has made a reflector modification, hence the improved spread and reach of the lights...

So not really having them cleaned, at all..

Az

Jeff:

Whats the modification to the reflector (for the DIY enthusiats amongst us ;-)

/\/\ark

Come on then Jeff. Tell us where we can get this Chrome stuff from and what the best way to apply it is.......

yeeee gods the fingerpig has surfaced for the third time this year............we seek him here we seek him there that dammed elusive fingerpig gets everywhere. mr pig im gonna call round to yours as i could do with havin a chat about ure invertor to see if will run my ps2 and my x box

Well ... went to see Jeff and his wonderful headlights yesterday and must concur that the difference is tremendous. Not only are they now brighter, they also reach much further. Excellent job Jeff! Aestetically they look the dogs danglies as well and really modernize the front of our beloved Zeds.

HOWEVER, and I say this with all the respect in the world for Jeff and his very capable skills, I would advice anyone considering this conversion to hold off for a month or so. It is worth waiting to see what daily driving does to the film and the quality of the light. Headlights get extremely hot and "may" warp the film over time. Also, opening up the headlights introduces water vapour that could manifest itself by fogging up the inside of the lens ... (you know what I'm talking about Jeff wink.gif ).

Anyway, if the conversion holds up over time then I think Jeff could defo make a profitable business out of this because the difference is so tremendous.

Excellent job Jeff!

Cheers wink.gif

Danny

Sounds brill and fair comment Dan the Man wink.gif

Am Mad for It already, my lights were so arse I had to drive behind the Mrs. in her car one night as I couldn't see anything...not an exaggeration either!!!

I shall pull up a chair and wait for a month, and see the results.

U got mail!

Thanks Danny for those kind words, as you mentioned the problem of introducing moisture into the light is probably due to me sealing up the lights in my cold garage ,to be followed by 2 rainy days after fitting, after removing the main beam bulb and leaving a hair dryer blowing into the light for 20 mins seems to have done the job.

A good idea to see how the film copes with a few weeks use,off out again tonight for more testing, nice experience now I can see.

Jeff TT

As far as pricing is concerned, I would like these to be as expensive as possible............ wink.gif

Whenever I go into a shop I always tell them that they're selling their stuff too cheap and that I wanna pay more.... wink.gif

If I help people out I don't charge them for my time - fair enough though if there are a lot of units involved but don't see this as an opportunity to make money out of FRIENDS wink.gif

Basically what I am saying is I don't have a problem with people charging labour but don't up it "just because you can get away with it". How pissed off do we get when nissan dealers try to rip us off???? eh? eh? Exactly!!! We know they see the car and assume we can afford to shell out £1000s when we go and see them - we all also know, that we just turn right around and head the other way when they do this.

Sorry Jeff if this has caused you to cancel your order for those cams biggrin.gif - just don't see the fairness in trying to make money out of friends etc etc etc (and this wasn't aimed at anyone either, just picking up on points above)

CheerZ,

Andy

i have to agree with duffman here,

this is supposed to be a forum for all of us, and for some members to make money deliberatly out of other members, is not right. I truly believ that if peopel are to make money out of this forum they should then pay for an advertising fee or something.

dont knwo if this has anythign to do wiht the post, but i like the idea jeff,

Woooooooooo, hang on a minute here bald Eagle!!! biggrin.gif

Have you seen how much the cheapest HID conversion system is gonna be for our cars? I rang Regal Autobulbs last month and you'll be looking at about 500 squid!

Phone Nelson and ask for a quote on MY-99 headlights and that should be a heart stopper!

Right I will say this with a little respect for my recent episode elsewhere...what I don't agree with is a forum member making money for nothing! What I do agree with, which I think is what Andy is saying, is a forum member making money from something they have put effort and time and their own money into...to benefit other people on the forum e.g. US GUYS! wink.gif

So if Jeff can test this upgrade, prove it's OK and will stand the test of time and it improves our lights...which as standard are absolute...excuse the Englais...WANK...I'm all for chucking some dosh in his direction.

Isn't that the motto of life? Or sodding well should be anyway...you get what you pay for! biggrin.gif

God knows how much Pete was/is gonna charge for the system he is/was developing!

So I might be faced with a choice in the near future...do I pay 500 squid or 100 squid to achieve the same result? I know which way I'd choose! wink.gif

All my own opinion of course.

Yeah - who ever said Jeff was trying to 'make money out of members' Warren!?

He's taken time (and money) to develop something that improves the headlights.. Now he (may!) offer that to other members..

You want him to convert your lights, plate them, put them back together, and send them back to you for what.. nothing!?

Errrr

Next you'll be telling me Tesco's should give you your shopping free, right?

Payment for services rendered, or something like that...

Just my 2p worth..

Az

ok sorry i posted the above wrong, no offence jeff.

not how i meant to imply it. ill pay 100 squid for those but what im saying is |£100 was a figure pulled out the air ? wasen it. and now that seems the figure setteld on here, i understand profit blah blah blah, but not if its a unrealistic % of profit like many motor industries and peopel on this forum are selling for.
