Houghtons told me they wouldnt insure me cos I'm under 25!!

Could it have anything to do with the car being chipped tho? I'm 22 with 2 ncb and also struggling.

CBR, have you tried Adrain Flux 08700777888. They're the best ive found

many companies said they wouldnt insure me cos i'm under 25 but tesco was the first one to say yes so i went for it but now i want to find something cheaper....How much do you pay PIESOUP if you don't mind?

I dont own a Z yet but am looking for insurance. From Adrian Flux I've been quoted £1233 for Nico's Z in the For Sale section. I'm going for the unmodded option as hopefully the ins will cost less.

probably not worth changing it now though as the amount you lose cancelling one policy will easily be more than the savings going to another insurer (I would have thought so anyway)

Im in the same boat....looking to purchase a Zed, and have been getting quotes.

Usually find Tesco, Directline and Admiral to be about the same price, and thats usually a good price (about £950 for a UK car and £1050 for an Import for me - 25 yrs old with 3yrs NCB). Better than most, but I reckon can be bettered.

Houghtons come highly recomended, but I've yet to get a quote from them as only looked at getting online quotes so far.

I tried confused.com and got an amazing quote of £650 for a UK TT, but best price on an import was £1650

I got a quote from Houghton and Im 24. Maybe they wont insure under 25 on imports.

Maybe you'r right JAFFA but i prefer the car to be on my name and right now i pay £1900 for TPFT second driver. The cheapest one i found was CENTRAL DIRECT £1655 TPFT but i'm the main driver so i can build up my ncb aswell.

Where do you live? With Tesco my Brother at 22 was quoted £1500 fully comp on a UK spec. Have you tried Axa, my mate has reccomended them.

I will try the company that PIESOUP said ( Adrain Flux )and also Houghtons maybe i've got more luck. Most of my qoutes were online so many companies didn't give any qoutes so i'm still looking..:( Try http://www.centraldirect.co.uk this was the cheapest one i found till now.

Being a pensioner at 42 !! :D

Dont know if this will help, but fully comp with extra for tyre, stereo, windscreen and breakdown cover, on a classic and collectors policy with limited mileage (5000) I am £277 per annum.

Not sure of the age limit, but the mileage shouldnt be a prob, if you know what I mean ! ;) ;)

Try this:

DIAMOND INSURANCE,

SPRINGWELL HOUSE,

64 WESTERN ROAD,

TRING,

HERTFORDSHIRE,

HP23 4BB.

Tel: 01442-825481.

Alan......

Sorry,

Should have mentioned, mine is a jap import, auto and modified, slightly ! ;)

Alan.

my company said that they will not insure me next year ,they are changing there policy, bloody AXA, and i had to clame for a breakin, protected no clames is shit when u have to change comp.

houghtons wont insure young drivers on standard insurance because "they dont have the market"

thy wont insure young drivers on classic policies either, u have to be 23 at least.

am 20 and using my mum as owner driver of my car with me named, costing me £1500 tpft. 21 in a fortnight so was ringin round to get some quotes but think i might leav it as it is.

i rang central direct and they wont insure a car that has any performance mods

in my case exhaust + induction, oh well, th search goes on!

Have any of you tried Norwich Union?

I'm 23, live in Edinburgh, and have a 1991 Import NA 300zx with 18" alloys. I pay about £350 a year TPFT, with a £120 excess. (fully comp was about £500 but had a £400 excess so I did not see the point).

Granted I have full no claims but even keeping that in mind it still seems way cheaper than you guys are paying. So i would recommend giving them a call.

ross mate, id call norwich union and double chek ur policy cos i jus got off th phone to them twice and both guys told me thy dont insure imports that are more than 10 years old.

yas

This has been brought up before on this site, it seems some of the staff at norwich union say they dont insure certain imports, but they definately do.

I have 3 policies with them, one for the Zed, one for my primera and one for my Suzuki TL1000R (also an import). Before I had the Zed i had a 1992 Prelude 2.2 VTEC, also an import, and insuring it with them was not a problem.

I'll check to see if I can find the old post.......In fact, Ya5een, you posted on the old topic, here's the link http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=33447

Why dont you call them back, explain that you know people who have old cars insured with them and asked to be passed to a manager or "team leader". I know it must seem like a hassle but if it will save you £100's in insurance its worth it.

cheers,

ross
